Maria Georgina Ipia Cuetia owns the 1-hectare farm called El Cafetal, where she grows 2,000 Castillo trees.

After picking, the coffee is first allowed to ferment in its cherry for 12 hours before being depulped. The seeds are then fermented dry for 24 hours before being washed and dried under the sun for 15 days.

In September 2018, Maria submitted this lot of just 280kg to be judged at Cafe Import’s Colombia Best Cup, where it was awarded 3rd place. Due to this it’s high quality, Maria’s green (raw) coffee recieved a premium of US$8.25 per lb at auction, which is approximately AUD$25.41 per kg.
